Disappointing..

Really disappointing. Reviews are misleading. Rooms are cramped and small. I booked a deluxe and nothing deluxe about it. The “terrace” was not an outdoor area but rather a pokey additional area off the bedroom. Again everything was just crammed. You opened the door and you were on top of the bed. Terrible experience. Won’t be going back. It is not a 5 star hotel imo. If anything 3.5-4 but the reviews are definitely not a true reflection. Furniture slightly worn in rooms as well.

Update: I have now confirmed that the hotel charged me €400 but gave me a €350 room with no sunlight. Truly impressive for a “5-star” hotel — congratulations. First of all, the hotel’s location is excellent, the rooms are clean, and the staff are extremely attentive — they are always ready to help with anything you need. However, calling this a 5-star hotel is simply not accurate. We honestly couldn’t understand how it received a 5-star rating. To begin with, the hotel barely has a proper lobby. Most of the space seems to be rented out, and anyone — whether they are a hotel guest or not — can freely use areas that should normally be exclusive to guests. Upon check-in, we were not informed about any facilities, mainly because there aren’t really any. The gym and spa were apparently under renovation. The terrace is just an empty, meaningless space — there isn’t even a bar or any kind of setup there. If you arrive late at night, there is no visible security at the entrance. The main door simply opens when you scan your room card, which raises serious concerns. We paid around €400 per night and ended up staying in a very small room that didn’t even get sunlight. We were clearly misled by the “5-star” label — this place is, at best, a 3-star city hotel. Would I stay here again? Honestly, yes — but definitely not at this price. There are far better hotels in this price range. We were influenced by the photos and thought we would be staying in a charming, authentic place, but it seems the images mostly reflect common areas rather than the actual rooms. On top of that, we were not given the room we selected during booking; instead, we were assigned a smaller one. If I had paid half the price, I would consider this hotel absolutely perfect. But at this rate, it simply does not deliver what it promises. It lacks even the most basic features expected from a 5-star hotel — such as a proper lobby or adequate security. Thank you.

A New Favorite Hotel. . .

The Casa Sagnier exceeded my expectations. The best front desk staff you could ever hope for. So helpful and friendly. My room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Loved drinking my coffee in the mornings on my outdoor terrace. Excellent location, with lots of restaurants and shopping right outside. I will return to Barcelona simply to stay here again.

Absolute extortion!!!

I have traveled globally for years, staying in some of the world’s most prestigious 5-star+ properties from the Maldives to Bora Bora. Never in my professional or personal travel history have I encountered such a blatant lack of integrity regarding pricing. We were charged over €80 for a few "bar snacks" consisting of: Two tiny jars of nuts (approximately 10–20g each). A small bag of cookies. A few pieces of candy and a bottle of water. To be clear: there was no alcohol, no organic certification, and no unique artisanal ingredients to justify this. This isn't luxury; it is a "rip-off" on a different level. The Reality Check: The Math: At €80 for roughly 50g of snacks, you are charging an effective rate of €1,600 per kilogram. For context, high-grade Beluga Caviar or Jamón Ibérico de Bellota often cost less than what this hotel charges for standard processed sugar and salt. Market Comparison: Paying €400 for a small double room and a few snacks in Barcelona is mathematically absurd. In a city world-renowned for its gastronomy, you can enjoy a full Michelin-star tasting menu for the price this hotel charges for a "mini-bar snack." As someone who understands the luxury market, I find this pricing model insulting to the guest’s intelligence. It feels like a "shakedown" rather than hospitality. If you value your money—or simply your dignity as a consumer—stay elsewhere.
