Glorious hotel

Amazing 4 night stay. Beautiful room, glorious spa, perfect staff and truly great food. Nothing is ever too much effort and nearly everything is taken care of before you even think about it. Undoubtedly one of the best hotels in the world- it’s a kind of antithesis of a Ritz Carlton type hotel where you get asked if you are enjoying it every 10 minutes. The staff here just know. The facilities are wonderful, Phuket beautiful and they clearly run very good tours but I had one place to go and just switch off from the world for a week it would be here. Thank you Amanpuri.

Spectacular Phuket

We had an amazing stay at Amanpuri. Everything was truly excellent from our beautiful pool pavilion to the meals, the beach service, the spa services and our outside activities. I hurt my foot and they took good care of me and even gave me flowers to wish me well. The service on our room was truly spectacular. They serviced the room every time we left. The massage therapist worked very hard to repair the energy blockage in my husband’s lower back. It was truly a spectacular place and a dream holiday.

It’s marvellous but there’s a big BUT…

The guest experience at Amanpuri is excellent…the rooms comfortable, the staff and service is exemplary, and the food is exquisite. BUT Amanpuri is a classic example of a hotel that doesn’t know what it wants to be. The Aman brand is adult and sophisticated. It is a magnet for couples, who can enjoy each others company or mix with others for interesting conversation with a cosmopolitan clientele. But the villas…with their numerous and varied bedrooms for groups or families, introduce large numbers to a place which upsets the social dynamic which exclusivity offers. Made even worse during the occasion of our visit by an extraordinary number of young children who were allowed to run around without discipline, which spoiled the dining experience more than once. There is an obvious solution to this, which hotel management needs to address before the brand reputation is tarnished.
